The absorbency was decent for a litter of four 2 pound puppies. If the puppies peed too close to the end and peed multiple times, liquid would seep out onto wooden floor. If the urine didn't seep out the smell from it would get on the floor as well. I had to wipe down the floor with vinegar + water mix.At this large size, it was a little difficult to thoroughly hand wash (in the tub) or scrub down outside. Still held a slight smell of urine after sun drying or drying in the dryer. The only way I could completely get the stink out was pre-washing (handwashing + soaking in the tub), tossing into the washing machine, and then the dryer.I would buy again. However, I think these mats would only suit small dogs, nothing larger than 12 pounds. Otherwise, expect to be changing out the pee mat more than 2x a day to avoid leakage and stink.I have a 19 week old Golden Retriever, and due to gastrointestinal infections, he must be kept separate from my other dogs. Of course, this also includes where he’s allowed to potty. These work great! Easy to wash/disinfect, (don’t use fabric softener) and they dry fairly quickly. I’d buy again!This is an absolute life saver for training a puppy.Saves moneyLove this product. Easy to wash and dry. If your going to use it like me in a pen get the biggest one so it covers whole area.Leak proof after several hours. Great for when you are gone for several hours.These are great and so much better than pads because they can be reused. Wash and dry then use again. The only issue is they can get that urine smell if used for several days if using with large breeds. Just wash more often. The dark gray color makes it hard to tell how urine soaked this pad is. With the pack of 2 it’s easy to wash while using another so they can be changed more often .The product solved my problem with an elderly dog having accidents in the house overnight. I didn't want to put him in a crate. I purchased two of the largest size available so I always have a clean one. They absorb everything and do not leak or run over the edges onto the floor.You can machine wash them but I live in Florida so I hang them up outside and hose the pad and let it drip dry. Can't beat it!
